Semantics of MapBlogs

As an avid runner I'm finding this Pedometer built on top of the Google Maps API quite useful: it allows me to create an accurate record of my runs in a very convenient format.


I wouldn't be surprised if we see a whole new family of MapBlogs where each post uses a similar representation to describe everything from paths, vacations, events, etc. Google's confidence in this format is implicit through their investment on Google Earth.

A possible way to increase the usefulness of this format is to create a semantic convention that allows the consumer of the post not only to see my map, but also to search these posts using geographic queries such as "Running courses near Toronto, ON" or "cultural tour in Paris, FR"
